S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Gameplay and Tech Details

Stalker 2

A live gameplay of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 was shown on Gamescom, which you can play. Thanks to this, various fresh materials appeared about the game – from an interview with game director Evgeniy Grigorovich to impressions from the demo.

You can watch excerpts from the build in the video above. In the interview, Grigorovich does not say anything radically new: if you want details, it is better to refer to the recent review material from the developers.

But Digital Foundry employee John Linneman focused on the technical aspects:

  • Linneman played on Xbox Series X - there S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 worked at 60 fps (and there were no other performance modes).
  • According to Linneman, the game is technically good and the graphical quality is "surprisingly great."
  • The console got hot during the game, but this was not a consumer version, but a devkit - that is, a variation of the Xbox for developers. Typically, devkits are similar in characteristics to the consumer version but may differ in assembly features.
  • The PC version of the second Stalker was also brought to the exhibition, but Linneman did not get to it.

Currently, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl is set to release on November 20th.
