Bit Reactor has held a FAQ session for Star Wars: Zero Company, revealing a wide range of details about the tactical RPG ahead of its August 27 launch.
Campaign and Structure
The main campaign runs 30–40 hours. No microtransactions. The galactic map includes 150+ planets, though not all have full tactical missions. There is only one ending.
Protagonist and Squad
Hawkes is fully customizable at the start — gender, appearance, and species. The base starts with 7 operatives and grows to 20 as the game progresses. Squads are 4 operatives per standard mission, with some missions featuring additional characters. Hawkes participates in all main story missions; side missions can be handled by squads without the protagonist. Tel-Rae is the only Jedi Padawan class operative. No romances.
Gameplay Systems
Permadeath is on by default but can be turned off. Only weapons and gadgets affect gameplay — clothing is purely cosmetic. No fog of war, though the developers say an all-sniper squad won't be overpowered. Weather is visual only and doesn't affect visibility or combat effectiveness. Players can field squads made entirely of clones, though those units unlock progressively. Each of the three main enemy factions has distinct traits requiring different tactical approaches. Enemy vehicles appear in some missions.
Other Details
No New Game+, but certain customization options carry over to subsequent playthroughs. No nickname system like XCOM 2, but unit names and backstories are fully editable. No official mod support. Steam Deck optimization is ongoing. No DLC plans announced — the team is focused on the base game release.
Star Wars: Zero Company launches August 27 on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series.
