Undead Labs is saying goodbye to the zombie action game State of Decay 2 — it will receive its final, 38th update, in 2024.
According to the developers, the upcoming update will eliminate several long-standing flaws, improve the convenience of gameplay, and open up all seasonal and holiday content, including winter costumes and a wizard's van.
Undead Labs assures that now that support for State of Decay 2 is almost complete,
the team will be re-energized to begin production on the third installment:
"We know that you love this world we've built and this amazing community you've helped create. Over the years that you've enjoyed State of Decay 2, you've probably heard that we've been hard at work on the next stage of the franchise's evolution! We're committed to making the greatest zombie survival game in the series, and to that end, we'll be focusing our attention and resources on the upcoming third installment, State of Decay 3." — Developers shared the plans.
The authors also answered questions that users may have:
- State of Decay 2 will still be available in stores and the Game Pass catalog.
- The final update will not affect your saves in any way.
- You will be able to continue to unlock items from the Broker. The schedule is here.
- After the 38th patch, Undead Labs will stop accepting error messages.
- The release dates for State of Decay 3 will be revealed at a later date.
