FireFly has released The Surgeon and Baibars, the fourth DLC for Stronghold Crusader: Definitive Edition.
The expansion adds two new AI lords. The Surgeon is a master of defense who builds massive tower-laden castles and lets enemies exhaust themselves before delivering a decisive strike. Baibars is a former slave turned aggressive sultan who favors straightforward fortifications and relentless attack waves. A new co-op trail called Dance of Scorpions includes 10 challenging missions. Three free maps are also included: Lush Crossover (600x), Bypass (500x), and River of Life (600x).
Alongside the DLC, update 2.8 adds a new coat of arms, three more maps (Coast Life, Insular Hope, and Fields and Forges), and two custom scenarios. Rockhold challenges players to hold out against constant attacks from surrounding enemy outposts while gathering stone for defenses. Island Living tasks players with surviving and thriving in a harsh coastal desert against increasingly fierce invasions. An optional squad movement improvement has also been added — single click moves units at their individual speeds, double click synchronizes the squad to the slowest unit. Bug fixes are included as well.
Stronghold Crusader: Definitive Edition holds a 92% "Very Positive" rating on Steam across over 11,000 reviews. FireFly is also currently developing Stronghold 4, planned for release this year.
