Swords of Legends is an action RPG driven by a compelling main narrative, cinematic storytelling, and rich world exploration supported by deep side quests. It is neither a Souls-like nor a fully open-world game — instead, it focuses on a tightly crafted, story-rich experience rooted in atmosphere and emotional depth.
Set in an original fantasy world inspired by Chinese mythology and folklore, the game expands the Gujian universe by casting players in the role of a "Guardian of the Underworld" — a unique being who travels between the realms of the living and the dead.
This is not merely a retelling of ancient myths. In Swords of Legends, players personally guide lost souls, helping them confront their deepest regrets and find peace. Each soul carries a unique story. For example, in the announcement trailer, we see a woman dancing before bronze bells, unable to let go of her attachment to the mortal world and willing to pay any price to remain.
Developed using Unreal Engine 5 for PC and undisclosed consoles, the game has been in active development for about two years. A release date has not yet been announced. Created by Aurogon Shanghai and published by Wangyuan Shengtang, the project aims to introduce Western audiences to a profound, emotionally resonant narrative deeply rooted in Chinese spiritual tradition.
