Independent studio Shiro Games has announced the exact release date for the "Fief" expansion for tactical RPG Wartales. The DLC launches September 25th and, as the name suggests, will let players develop their own feudal territories.
The formerly struggling mercenary band rises to lead an entire fief, whose future depends on numerous factors. The main objective is transforming ruined lands into thriving domains. Players must construct buildings, improve the economy, deal with lawlessness, and resolve conflicts with external enemies. Each structure serves a specific function, all essential for ensuring subjects' prosperity. Over time, the fief can be expanded by annexing new territories.
According to the DLC description, players will claim the right to rule over scattered ruins and lawless lands, though ruling demands more than just swords and wealth. The expansion focuses on growing domains through building construction, goods production, wise trading, and ensuring subjects are fed, protected, and loyal. Every decision shapes the fief's soul and the legacy of those within it, challenging players to forge either a haven of prosperity or a bastion of control.
Wartales is available on PC (Steam), Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch. The game boasts over 27,000 "Very Positive" reviews on Steam with an 89% rating.
