Canadian indie studio Paper Cult has announced that Tears of Metal launches in Steam and Microsoft Store Early Access on July 22. A demo is available until July 6 and has accumulated nearly 1,000 reviews at 97% positive.

Players take on the roles of Scottish warriors reclaiming their homeland from waves of invaders. The Early Access launch includes a full progression system, three acts with unique enemies, elite foes and bosses, three playable heroes, village upgrades, emblems, gear, and companions.

Planned future updates include new playable characters, new clan emblems, new gear and amulets, new companions, additional village content, and balance and gameplay improvements based on player feedback.

The Early Access period is expected to last between 4 and 12 months.
