The Detectorist Guild Announced — A Voxel RPG About Metal Detecting in Rural England

The Detectorist Guild

PQube and Full Stop Studios have announced The Detectorist Guild, an unusual RPG about treasure hunting with a metal detector. The game launches on PC and consoles in early 2027. A free demo is available on Steam now.

Set in 1999 in the quiet Yorkshire village of Shiverly, players take on the role of James — a member of the local metal detecting club. Armed with a detector, he surveys fields, footpaths, and hidden corners in search of artifacts that reveal the history of the area.

The tone is relaxed — exploring the British countryside, returning lost items to villagers, and earning the trust of the local community. Behind the cozy facade, however, a mystery connects the present to the distant past, touching on the history of Shiverly and James's own family.

Found relics can be donated to a museum to learn their origins, while more modern items can be sold in a shop to fund equipment upgrades. The metal detector itself is simulated in detail — players can adjust signal frequency, sensitivity, and ground balance. An investigation system, resident quests, and a police database round out the gameplay.

The Detectorist Guild is coming to PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch.
