The season pass for the soulslike game Nioh 3 guarantees access to two expansions. Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja have announced that the first add-on, Hell Rising, will be released on August 19.
In this DLC, the main protagonist Takechiyo meets an unknown yokai in a dream, who transports him to the year 1651. Following the death of Takechiyo from the future, the era of peace comes to an end—the city of Edo finds itself once again at the mercy of the Crucible. You will have to unravel yet another conspiracy involving Soul Stones.
Hell Rising Includes
- A new location — infernal Edo, 1651.
- New weapons — the hoko spear and shield, as well as a ninja variant of this set. You'll be able to not only block with the shield, but also throw it at enemies.
- New enemies, including the one-eyed swordsman Yagyu Jubei.
- The next New Game+ difficulty tier — "Way of the Enlightened." Expect more powerful gear, new Soul Cores, and a higher level cap. NG++ will unlock after completing "Way of the Shogun."
- Demon Scrolls — challenges with countless combinations of enemies, arenas, and rules. Finishing all battles on a scroll unlocks it as a piece of equipment and gives you a chance to earn special effects for further victories. These battles will be available in both single-player and multiplayer modes.
- New skills, Martial Arts, Ninjutsu, and other elements.
Nioh 3 is available on PC (Steam) and PlayStation 5. The action RPG will get its second expansion, Bloody Insurrection, in February 2027.
