The creators of cozy life sim My Time at Portia at independent Chinese studio Pathea Games made a highly unexpected announcement — developers are preparing a spectacular action-RPG called The God Slayer, blending steampunk and Eastern fantasy elements. Two trailers accompanied the announcement — one gameplay-focused, one cinematic.
Gods vs. Humanity
In The God Slayer's world, gods called Celestials created special machines to harvest qi energy, ensuring their eternal life. Everything changed when humans began harvesting qi themselves and using it as elemental magic. In response, the Celestials unleashed their wrath on humanity, exterminating most wizards in the Zhou kingdom in a single night.
Revenge Against the Gods
The protagonist is young elementalist Chen, seeking revenge against the gods for his family's death. Throughout the game, players will master elemental magic as part of the secret Fallen Star society, whose goal is freeing humanity from the Celestials' oppression. Key gameplay features include:
- Dynamic elemental spell interactions — fire burns trees, water extinguishes flames, and so on.
- Open world with a technologically advanced city hiding numerous secrets.
- Various factions with their own interests, each needing the protagonist's help.
The God Slayer is in development for PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Release date remains unannounced.
