Path of Exile 2 Early Access: Three Acts and an Updated Atlas

Path Of Exile 2 1

Path of Exile 2 is launching in early access in just two weeks, so the Grinding Gear Games team held a big GGG Live broadcast. During the stream, the developers talked about the features of early access, showed more gameplay, and so on.

Basic Information About the Content

  • For early access, three acts of the story campaign and a rich high-level mode have been prepared. You will be able to fight 50 bosses and about 400 types of enemies. The content of Path of Exile 2 will expand as it approaches the full version - ultimately, the team plans to double the size of the game.  According to game director Jonathan Rogers, the three remaining acts are 80% ready. However, instead of finishing them by the start of early access, GGG threw its efforts into finalizing the endgame content.
  • Path of Exile 2 takes place 20 years after the first PoE. Wraeclast has been free of corruption all this time, but Count Ogama intends to harness this power again to gain power. It will take about 25 hours to complete the first three acts.
  • In Early Access, you can choose from six classes: monk, warrior, huntress, sorceress, witch, and mercenary. Six more will be added later, including druid, spearwoman, and others. Each class has three ascension subclasses, with which you can more accurately tailor the character to your preferred playstyle.
  • In Early Access, access will be open to only two subclasses. To unlock them, you need to complete one of several trials that will replace the Lord's Labyrinth.
  • In the second part, the flask system was reworked. Now there are only two of them - one for health, and the other for mana. They gradually fill up with each defeated enemy.
  • Characters will acquire another resource in addition to mana and health - spirit. With its help, you can use a number of constant skills. Each class has several such skills. For example, frost armor deals cold damage to enemies who hit the protagonist.
  • More than 100 skill stones will be added to the game. All found and received stones will be displayed with a cutting menu, where they can be improved.
  • Since acts four through six are not yet ready, users can gain levels by completing the first three chapters on a higher difficulty and with more valuable rewards. After completing the story campaign, a bunch of endgame content will open. For example, the Atlas with infinite levels will return. Not only maps will be added to it, but also additional areas and objects.
  • You can also try your luck in other challenges such as expeditions, rituals, and rifts - demons and monsters from another dimension will pour out of gaps in reality. The more creatures the hero kills, the longer the rift will be open, providing more pleasant rewards. Each type of high-level content has its own talent tree.
  • Early Access will still allow you to play local co-op on one account.
  • There will be no progress reset and none of the characters created will be deleted. They will be transferred to a league called "Early Access" (i.e. they will never get to "Standard").
  • Some of the items purchased in the first Path of Exile will work in the early access of the sequel.

How to Join Early Access

Early Access to Path of Exile 2 will open on December 6 at 22:00 Moscow time on PC (native client, Steam, EGS), PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series with text translation into Russian. There will be no MacOS support at launch.

The access key is issued for purchasing one of the new Early Access support packs. Support packs can already be purchased on PC and Xbox, and on Sony servers this will be possible from December 6.

Early Access will last "as long as it takes", but Grinding Gear Games expects at least 6 months. After the end of the Early Access period, the game will become conditionally free.
