The free-to-play MMORPG Throne and Liberty from South Korean developers NCSoft is based on the unreleased Lineage Eternal. The game has been available in Korea since last year, but it has only just reached the Western market.
Announced in 2011, Lineage Eternal sank into oblivion due to constant delays and less than successful beta testing results. The existing developments later served as the foundation for Throne and Liberty.
The key focus of the new game is on large-scale PvPvE battles in a seamless world with cross-play support. The main story revolves around collecting mysterious star fragments that give their owners unprecedented power. The authors designed many locations for exploration, a dynamic combat system, various classes and special transforming mounts.
The global launch of Throne and Liberty took place on October 1 on PC (Steam), PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series. At the start, the project managed to attract over 300 thousand Steam users, and in terms of financial indicators, the game got to the third place in the fresh chart.
