At a Ubisoft event in Japan, attendees spotted a poster for The Division: Definitive Edition — apparently the company is preparing an updated edition of the original game. Poster photographs appeared on social media, published by several users who attended the event.
FPS Day Reveal
The poster was allegedly shown at FPS Day — an esports event dedicated to Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege and Tom Clancy's The Division 2. The event also plans a panel commemorating The Division series' tenth anniversary, making Definitive Edition's appearance particularly symbolic.
Original Game Background
The original Tom Clancy's The Division launched in 2016, telling the story of New York City after a devastating viral epidemic. Story-wise, the disease called "Green Poison" spread through cash. Players completed missions, upgraded equipment, and ventured into the Dark Zone — the most dangerous district where the best loot could be found, but only extracted via successful helicopter evacuation.
No Official Announcement Yet
While Ubisoft hasn't officially announced Definitive Edition, the leak appears quite credible. As a reminder, Tom Clancy's The Division 3 was revealed in 2023, but hasn't been shown publicly since. Executive producer Julian Gerighty recently stated the third installment should produce an effect comparable to the first Division's release.
According to him, development is in full swing, with the project called a "monster" inside Massive Entertainment. If Definitive Edition rumors are confirmed, Ubisoft could use the remaster to remind players of the series' roots before the threequel's full release.
The original The Division is currently available on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, Ubisoft Connect), Xbox, and PlayStation.
