Until Dawn Remake Releases on October 4th

Until Dawn

The remake of Until Dawn is set for October 4th. Sony and Ballistic Moon have also released a trailer for the game, which compares footage of the original and updated versions.

According to creative director Neil McEwan, the developers did not change the events of that fateful night on Mount Blackwood. Instead, they focused on making the horror film even more cinematic. This required a lot of work:

  • Until Dawn has moved to Unreal Engine 5.
  • Character models and environments have been updated.
  • Visual effects have been improved.
  • The team worked on the staging of the shot and refreshed the prologue - they edited the pace of the narrative, gave more screen time to the Washingtons, and so on.
  • The animations were recorded again using motion capture.
  • The camera is now controlled in a new way. A mixture of a fixed camera and an over-the-shoulder view has been prepared.
  • For Until Dawn, they wrote a new soundtrack and tinkered with the sound design.
  • All collectible items were hidden.

"We've completely redesigned the game to take full advantage of UE5 rendering, including ray tracing and improved materials. This helped focus on creating a more atmospheric, modern horror experience", the creative director shared.

Ballistic Moon paid special attention to simulation technology to create more realistic liquids for the most brutal moments. Cuts and bruises will appear on characters, and water, snow, and tears will interact correctly with hero models.

Until Dawn for PC (Steam, EGS) and PlayStation 5 will be released on October 4. Pre-orders will open on August 21st. To play, you will need a PSN account.
