VTM — Bloodlines 2 Spring Update Overhauls Combat and Reworks Content

Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 Update

The Chinese Room has released the promised spring update for Vampire: The Masquerade — Bloodlines 2, addressing player feedback across combat, progression, and content structure.

The headline change is proper melee combat. Previously the protagonist could only pull weapons toward himself and throw them via telekinesis — now players can fight directly with knives, hammers, bats, and other melee weapons. Telekinesis remains available, and players can switch between modes freely.

Other Key Changes

Combat improvements — blocking now activates while standing still, not just by dashing toward attackers. Slow-motion targeting when aiming at a specific enemy has been added, along with 17 collectible notes detailing the updated combat system.

Save system improvement — players can now create checkpoint copies that remain permanently in the save list.

Fast travel in Fabian sections — instead of sprinting through empty city sections, players can now teleport directly to locations. The NPCs Fabian feeds on serve as fast travel points.

Content restructuring — Mrs. Thorne's quests are now exclusive to Tremere playthroughs, and Niko's quests are exclusive to Banu Haqim. Several main quests have been moved to side quest status — The Dutiful Beloved, Turning Down The Heat, A Plaything Discarded, Little Book of Blackmail, and Dish of the Day — to improve pacing.

Increased XP gains to allow more disciplines to be unlocked by the end of a playthrough.

Bug fixes and rebalancing.

Alongside the update, the first story DLC Loose Cannon has launched, covering the story of fallen sheriff Benny Muldoon before and after Phyre's awakening. A second DLC, The Flower & the Flame, focusing on Isabella, is coming this summer.

Vampire: The Masquerade — Bloodlines 2 is available on PC (Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series.
