Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader's Third DLC Details the Augmentation System

Owlcat Games has detailed the augmentation system coming with The Infinite Museion, the third DLC for Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader, launching June 11.

The system allows the Rogue Trader to replace flesh with over 100 mechanical implants, installed at the new Bionics Sector aboard the voidship — home to Genitor Ferrenz and Vivisector Martinax. Augmentations are found while exploring the Koronus Expanse.

Each augmentation has up to three effects: a major positive effect, a significant negative effect, or a compromise effect that trades something useful for a drawback. Six installation slots are available — two for the head (sensory organs and nervous system), two for the arms (dominant and secondary hand), one for the torso (internal organs), and one for the legs (battlefield mobility).

The more augmentations installed, the higher the new Ferrum Sanctum stat, which reflects the character's mechanical nature. Higher Ferrum Sanctum increases vulnerability to electrical damage but boosts the effectiveness of certain implants, talents, and abilities that interact with mechanical units.

Companions can also receive augmentations, with restrictions based on lore — Eldar characters are opposed to implants, Cassia will refuse entirely, and Battle Sister Argenta won't accept heretical augmentations. Companions who already have implants — Abelard, Jai, Solomon, and Pascal — will receive unique story augmentations that appear in the base game even without the DLC. Adeptus Mechanicus characters gain additional unique slots. Augmentations can be swapped but removing them entirely to return to flesh is not possible.

Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader is available on PC (Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series.
