Witchfire's Final Updates Before Leaving Early Access Announced

Witchfire

Since its early access launch in September 2023, Witchfire has already received seven major updates.

The developers of the dark shooter Witchfire from The Astronauts studio have presented an updated roadmap for the game's ongoing support. Before its full release sometime in 2026, the project will receive three more updates (including version 1.0).

The current roadmap looks like this:

December 2025 — Update 0.8 titled "The Reckoning". According to the developers, the update earned this name because it introduces final adjustments to gameplay features and mechanics. Among the planned changes are melee weapons that will replace bare fists, additional challenging trials, a couple of fresh witch vaults, alchemy improvements, and more. More details will be shared closer to release.

2026 — Update 0.9 (currently unnamed). This promises a new region, more localizations, and part of the story content.

2026 — Update 1.0 (full release), which will unlock the entire story branch and introduce additional content. Previously, The Astronauts was preparing for a launch in early next year, but now they've decided to exercise caution and avoid making hasty promises. "We're doing pretty well, but we're not moving fast. We need to verify that The Reckoning update actually polishes most of the features to understand what's left to do," the developers explained.

Witchfire is currently available in early access on PC through Steam and Epic Games Store.
