Way of Success
Yaroslav started playing video games at the age of 6 on an old Sega, while PlayStation 1 appeared in his house. It was 2005 when video games were actively developing, so Yaroslav went through almost all the formation of the game industry from 2D platformers to the high-budget AAA projects of today.
In 2017, he graduated from high school and entered Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv to major in finance and credit, where he liked marketing most of all.
In 2019, he started developing websites (HTML/CSS) and their promotion (SEO optimization) in the Ukrainian company Boosta. In the same year, HermitGamer appeared.
From the beginning, it was just as a platform for testing and gaining experience. Around the same year, Yaroslav started writing articles on the topic of video games.
In 2020 Yaroslav graduated with a bachelor's degree and started working for a Latvian company as a Junior SEO Specialist, where he still works today, but as a Team Lead with a team of 5 people. He has 25+ successful projects, 250+ written articles, and even more edited.
In 2024 Yaroslav faced the fact that the Internet is overflowing with AI content, which are not useful and a bit "soulless". That's why Yaroslav decided to gather a small team and make HermitGamer not just an informational site, but a full-fledged brand with its own community, where players from all over the world will find answers to any questions about video games.

He started playing in 2004 on PS 1 with games like Spyro the Dragon and 102 Dalmatians. With the appearance of the computer, Yaroslav started playing adventure games like Shrek or Overlord, puzzle games like Neighbours from Hell, street racing like Need for Speed, and, of course, GTA: San Andreas.
After a couple of years, Yaroslav got the internet and was overtaken by MMORPGs, which he played for over 5 years straight. They included such games as Asda, Dragon Nest, Perfect World, World of Warcraft, Lineage 2, and others.
After that, he met his love for all life – Minecraft. He also has been playing Terraria with his brother for up to 800 hours.
During his student years, Yaroslav spent a lot of time playing Dota 2, CS:GO, and Hearthstone. In addition, it was during this period that he played strategies like Evil Genius, Civilizations, The Settlers, Heroes of Might and Magic 5, and others.
In the last few years, Yaroslav has fallen in love with the Roquelike thanks to games like Slay the Spire and Darkest Dungeon.
At the moment Yaroslav plays mostly on PS5, as well as Nintendo Switch, sometimes on his phone, and on PC. Now he is playing Helldivers, Spider-Man 2, and GTA Online.

Yaroslav enjoys single-player adventure games such as Skyrim, Horizon Zero Dawn, Far Cry, Red Dead Redemption, and Witcher.
He appreciates games with good stories and characters, such as God of War, Half-Life, or The Last of Us.
Among sandbox games, Yaroslav's favorites are Minecraft and Terraria.
If we talk about games in the Roguelike genre, then Yaroslav highlights Slay the Spire, Darkest Dungeon, and The Binding of Isaac.
Among role-playing games, his favorites are Dragon Age, Baldur's Gate 3, and Divinity.
Among cooperative games, Yaroslav likes to play Dota 2 and Helldivers.
About Yaroslav's Life
Yaroslav was born and lived in Poltava (a city in Ukraine) for 17 years. After graduating from high school, he went to university in Kyiv and ended up spending the next 7 years of his life there.
In his 24th year, he was forced to flee Ukraine because of the war. In the last few years, he has been living in several countries, and now he is settling in the United States, in Los Angeles.
As for hobbies, except for video games, Yaroslav loves traveling. During his life he managed to visit more than 25 countries around the world: he suffered from the heat in the Valley of the Kings in Egypt, rode a bike in Amsterdam, fought with snakes in the jungles of Indonesia, swam with sharks in Thailand, met with investors in Silicon Valley.
During his school years, Yaroslav played basketball for 4 years and even achieved good results. He entered the streetball championship in Ukrainian with his team, but could not advance further.
Besides, Yaroslav loves mountains and everything that is connected with them. He has been on long hikes of 4-5 days 5 times, and he is also a confident snowboarder.
