Zenless Zone Zero, an action-RPG in the urban fantasy genre, finally launched on July 4th. The game is free-to-play and already available on PC, PlayStation 5 and mobile devices. Below we have collected the most important information about the new HoYoverse project.
What's the Game About?
Zenless Zone Zero will take gamers to the near future. The world has experienced a large-scale cataclysm, because of which mysterious "caverns" began to appear everywhere, and mankind has almost died. In the "caverns" you can find treasures of the old civilization, useful resources and valuable artifacts, but going there can cost lives. And it's not just the chaotically distorted space, but also the bloodthirsty monsters living in the "caverns".
However, willing to risk their own skin as much. All of them found shelter in New Eridu - the last stronghold of mankind. The metropolis is populated by a variety of characters: from the rich and officials to conspiratorial lunatics and members of street gangs. To safely get out of the "cavern", it is necessary to enlist the support of proxies. This role is performed by the main characters Wise and Belle - before starting the game you need to choose one of them. Characters interact with organizations and individuals to solve the mystery of the "caverns".
Game Features
Like HoYoverse's previous works, Zenless Zone Zero has introduced a banner system with guarantors and several premium currencies. Here, prayers are called "search for a signal", and "twists" are again divided into standard and event ones.
Analogous to the source stones are polychromes, which can be earned in several ways. They are given out for participating in in-game events, completing quests and so-called "dailies", opening chests, fulfilling prize orders in the "Zero Cavern" and so on. If you don't feel like vacuuming the map, you can purchase monochromes for real money and turn them into polychromes. The game has a double bonus for the first refill.
A distinctive feature of Zenless Zone Zero will be a banner with banbou - small AI-assistants, which will help both in battle and in peacetime. You can't buy them for real money, so you'll have to earn special currency. But there is a 100% chance to get the baby that you need. This can take up to 80 searches for a signal.
Otherwise, the system does not differ from previous HoYoverse games. Every 10 spins, an epic agent (4 stars) drops out, and every 90 spins, a legendary agent (5 stars) drops out. The best weapon drops out after 80 Master copies are spent. If you lose, the standard variant drops out rather than the limited agent or weapon. The history of searching for a signal is saved, so it is not difficult to calculate the remaining twists to the guarantor.
In the first half of version 1.0 you will be able to knock out Ellen Jo (Offense, Ice) and two "fours" - Anton (Offense, Electro) and Sokaku (Support, Ice). Zhu Yuan (Offense, Ether) and four-stars Nicole (Support, Ether) and Ben (Defense, Fire) await in the second half.
Zenless Zone Zero Gameplay
In Zenless Zone Zero the focus is more on battles than on exploring the environment. That's why you won't find an open world here either. In peacetime players will control Belle or Wise, walking around the hub-location and completing missions. You can also shop for items to pump, spend time at arcade machines and so on.
The main place for proxies will be the video lounge, equipped with everything necessary for forays into the "caverns". However, Belle or Wise themselves will not participate in the battles - instead of them on the battlefield are sent agents who can be twisted in banners. Their arsenal consists of normal and enhanced attacks, evasion and ultimatum. Each agent has a specialty (there are five in total) and an elemental attribute like fire, ether, and so on. Along with the three heroes, a banbu is also sent on a mission.
When an agent attacks an enemy, the enemy accumulates stun. When this scale is full, the enemy will be in a vulnerable position and the character will be able to perform a chain of reinforced blows. In addition, when yellow flashes appear, you should change the active character to get "perfect help". In this case, the enemy will be stopped, and the fighter will be able to conduct an additional attack.
In the absence of an open world, navigation is done by means of bubble TVs - there are many such screens in the video salon, lined up in the form of a kind of field with cells. Moving through them, you can come across resources, battles, cut-scenes, and more.
