Far Cry 3 Signature Weapons

Far cry 3 signature weapons

Signature weapons in Far Cry 3 are enhanced versions of the standard weapons you’d find in the game. To unlock signature weapons, you’ll need to complete certain challenges or gather specific items scattered throughout the game’s landscape. Once you’ve met the criteria, these weapons become available for purchase from vendors, no matter where you are in the game’s world.

There are 9 signature weapons in Far Cry 3. Each one has its own unique advantages over the standard versions. I’ve spent a considerable amount of time in the game, collecting each of these weapons, testing their damage output, and seeing how they fare in various combat situations.

Based on my experience, I’ve ranked these signature weapons from the least impressive to the absolute best. This list should give you a clear idea of which weapons you might want to prioritize and what to expect from each one.

AMR

Amr

If you’re a fan of long-range combat in games, then there’s a particular sniper rifle that might just catch your attention. AMR is an enhanced version of the Z93 sniper rifle. This upgraded signature weapon boasts impressive stats that make it a force to be reckoned with.

You can equip it with various attachments, such as a sound suppressor for those stealthy takedowns, an extended magazine, and a high-power scope to spot and eliminate targets from a great distance.

Moreover, each shot fired has the potential to unleash a mini explosion upon impact. Pirates, vehicles, you name it – they don’t stand a chance against this powerhouse.

How to Unlock AMR

To unlock the AMR signature weapon you need to find 20 hidden relics. Once you’ve collected all the relics, you can purchase this sniper rifle from any merchant for a price of $4800. It might seem steep, but for a weapon of this caliber, it’s a fair trade.

Bushman

Bushman

The Bushman is an assault rifle, but it’s not just any ordinary one. You won’t find it early on in your adventure: it’s more of a mid-to-late game treasure. To acquire the Bushman, you need to deactivate radio towers. There are 18 of them in total, and your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to deactivate every single one of them. Moreover, they can be a real challenge, almost like trying to scale a mountain without any gear.

Once you’ve conquered all the towers, the Bushman signature weapon becomes available for purchase for the price of $3800.

So, what makes the Bushman stand out from other rifles? It’s the only rifle in the game that allows for a suppressor attachment. This means you can take down enemies quietly without alerting their comrades. The Bushman also comes equipped with an extended magazine, and boasts a powerful scope, making it ideal for players who prefer a more aggressive approach.

How to Unlock Bushman

To unlock the Bushman you need to deactivate all 18 radio towers. After that, the Bushman signature weapon becomes available for purchase in the shop.

Ripper

Ripper

The Ripper is a machine gun, that is loaded with a ton of rounds, ensuring you’re always ready for action. And the damage is impressive. But, like all things, it has its downsides. One of them is its accuracy, which isn’t its strongest side.

As a signature weapon, it boasts some pretty cool upgrades. Its rate of fire is through the roof, allowing you to unleash a hail of bullets in no time. Moreover, the damage is also increased. However, what truly sets the Ripper apart is its range. Unlike other machine guns, the Ripper lets you engage enemies from a distance. And if you’re worried about the recoil, don’t be. The Ripper has been tweaked to have much less recoil, making it easier to handle.

How to Unlock Ripper

You can unlock the Ripper pretty early on in your adventure. All it takes is completing the 6 trials of the Rakyat. From my own experience, the effort is well worth the reward.

Cannon

Cannon

The Cannon is the upgraded version of the 44 Magnum. It’s equipped with a unique scope and enhanced accuracy.

How to Unlock Cannon

To acquire the Cannon you need to buy it in the Uplay Store for the playground points. After that, it will appear in your inventory in the game.

Tribal Knife

Tribal knife

The tribal knife is a relic, initially available to the chosen few who pre-ordered the game. Today, the tribal knife is available to those who purchase the game with the DLC pack.

It deals 2x more damage than the regular machete. However, the increased damage doesn’t boost the special attacks learned from the talent tree.

How to unlock the Tribal Knife

You can unlock the Tribal Knife only by purchasing the game with the DLC pack.

Japanese Tanto

Japanese tanto

The Japanese Tanto is a melee signature weapon, much like the Tribal Knife. It transforms the regular machete of Jason Brody into an instrument of devastation.

How to Unlock Japanese Tanto

To get the Japanese Tanto you need to get 6 Letters of the Lost. The quest for the Letters of the Lost is as much a test of patience as it is of skill.

Bull

Bull

I’ve tested many weapons in Far Cry 3, but the Bull signature weapon holds a special place. The Bull has really high damage, a rather huge magazine, and a preinstalled scope.

How to Unlock the Bull

To acquiring the Bull, you need to find the 10 relics hidden on the whole map. After that, you can buy the Bull from the merchant for $3010.

Shredder

Shredder

The Shredder is the weapon that I’ve found to be particularly remarkable. It’s a refined version of the Vector .45 ACP, enhanced and optimized to offer a superior combat experience.

The signature version of this weapon is equipped with a special scope and has enhanced accuracy. Moreover, the Shredder boasts a more roomy magazine.

How to Unlock Shredder

To unlock the Shredder, you need to find 10 tiny memory cards, scattered throughout the island. With all 10 memory cards in hand, you can purchase the Shredder for $3275.

Shadow

Shadow

Shadow pistol is the powerful signature weapon, that has a design of the iconic Colt M1911 pistol.

Equipped with a built-in suppressor, the Shadow whispers death, turning every shot into a silent sonnet of destruction. The scope is another marvel. The increased accuracy and damage mean every shot becomes powerful, making the Shadow one of the best signature weapons in Far Cry 3.

How to Unlock Shadow

To unlock the Shadow signature weapon in Far Cry 3, you need to liberate all 17 outposts in the game. After that, you can buy the weapon for $2600.

Signature Weapons vs Regular Weapons

To be honest, regular weapons are way more flexible, and that matters more than it seems. You buy a gun, you tweak it how you want, and that’s it — it fits your playstyle. Silencer, scope, extended mag, whatever. You’re in control. With signature weapons, you lose that. They come pre-built, and sometimes it’s great, but sometimes it just… doesn’t match how you play.

I remember using one of the signature rifles early on (think it was the Bushman), and yeah, it was strong, no doubt. But something about the setup felt off. I couldn’t change anything, so I just had to deal with it. Eventually, I went back to a regular weapon with my own attachments, and it felt better even if, technically, it wasn’t as powerful.

That’s kind of the trade-off. Signature weapons save you time. You don’t need to think about builds, you just equip and go. But at the same time, you’re locked in. If you don’t like one part of the weapon, too bad. You can not change it.

Stats-wise, sure, some of them are stronger. Higher damage, better handling, all that. But it’s not always noticeable in actual gameplay. Like, yeah, on paper it’s better, but in a fight? Not always a huge difference. Especially if you’re already used to your setup.

Also the price. They’re expensive. Early game, especially, you kinda feel it. You’re spending a lot on something you might not even fully like after a few fights. I personally ended up using mostly regular weapons with custom attachments. It just felt more natural. But I still kept a couple signature ones for specific situations, like when I didn’t want to think too much and just needed something strong out of the box.

Conclusion

The signature weapons in Far Cry 3 are the upgraded versions of regular ones. There are 9 of them in the game, every with its own advantages and gaming experience. However, to unlock each of them, you need to deal with special requirements and spend lots of time, collecting special items and killing enemies.

I believe this guide will help you to choose the best signature weapon for your playstyle and save lots of time to unlock all of them.
