Rockstar Games has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI's Leonida map is roughly twice the size of GTA V's world, which makes it the largest map the studio has built so far.
Aaron Garbut, Rockstar's head of development and co-studio head, described Leonida as the company's biggest map "by some degree." Rockstar hasn't published an official area in square miles or square kilometers, though, so the comparison is an approximation rather than an exact measurement.
Along with the extra land, the studio has put more work into buildings, rooftops, alleys, interiors, and the spaces that connect them. There are also far more interiors than before. Garbut said Rockstar reached a point where buildings had to feel convincing from the outside and once players walked in.
Leonida is split into six main regions:
- Vice City
- Leonida Keys
- Grassrivers
- Port Gellhorn
- Ambrosia
- Mount Kalaga National Park
Vice City is Leonida's main metropolitan area. It draws heavily on Miami, with beaches, Art Deco influences, and a major cruise port.
Leonida Keys is based on the Florida Keys, and Grassrivers on Florida's Everglades and wetlands. Port Gellhorn stands in for the less glamorous side of tourism, with cheap motels and struggling commercial strips.
Ambrosia is an industrial region full of factories and refineries. Mount Kalaga National Park covers the wilderness of northern Leonida and takes inspiration from the Florida–Georgia border area.
Rockstar hasn't released a complete official map of Leonida or confirmed its total area, so fan-made maps and size estimates circulating online are unofficial.
Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar has not announced a PC version.
