Guns of Eschaton launches December 8, 2026, on PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, with all three versions releasing the same day. Publisher 4Divinity and developer Eschatology Entertainment announced the date during the Galaxies Autumn 2026 Showcase on October 15, along with a new gameplay trailer.
The game is a first-person soulslike shooter set in an apocalyptic version of 19th-century America. Players take the role of a gunslinger trying to get home across a frontier overrun by supernatural enemies after a mysterious catastrophe called The Burning.
Combat mixes tactical gunplay with soulslike mechanics. Ammunition is limited, so players have to study enemy weaknesses, time their parries, and rely on evasive dashes and supernatural abilities. The arsenal has more than 20 firearms based on 19th-century weapons, plus different ammunition types and customization options.
Progression runs through three sacramental paths. Players shape their builds with active and passive abilities, armor, talismans, and occult powers.
The whole campaign can be played solo or in two-player online co-op, and PvP elements let players interfere with each other’s journeys.
The late Viktor Antonov, known for his work on Half-Life 2 and Dishonored, shaped the game’s visual direction.
A free demo has been on Steam since October 5.
