Hexworks has released a patch for Lords of the Fallen (2023) overhauling how boss weapon special attacks are unlocked, alongside a round of bug fixes.
Boss Weapon Changes
Special attacks no longer require quest completion to unlock — they become available as soon as the character meets the stat requirements to wield the weapon. Quests that previously unlocked these attacks now reward upgrade materials instead. New tutorials explain boss weapons and how to use their special attacks. Balance has also been adjusted, including effectiveness at lower weapon upgrade levels.
Bug Fixes
Fixed a co-op save issue where leaving a session could incorrectly switch a Veteran save to Legacy mode, preventing the player from returning to Veteran and continuing co-op. Note: already affected saves are not retroactively fixed.
Fixed an issue where full game owners could be sent back to the start of the game after loading a save. Note: saves already affected by the previous hotfix are not retroactively fixed.
Fixed Saint Latimer's Relic Spear special attack being usable indefinitely in one-hand mode with 0.5 Soulflay charges.
Fixed incorrect Soulflay charge display when using the Relic Spear special attack two-handed.
Fixed the Silent Saint's Halberd special attack being unavailable in one-hand mode with exactly 1 Soulflay charge.
Fixed the Queen's Head Hammer special attack being usable one-handed without the required 2 Soulflay charges.
Improved the message shown when trying to buy an item from a vestige that the player already owns.
Fixed controller highlight disappearing on the class selection screen after unlocking the Dark Crusader.
Lords of the Fallen is available on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series. A sequel launches in early 2027 on those platforms plus Nintendo Switch 2.
