The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake Launches November 5 — Gameplay Revealed

The Legend Of Zelda Ocarina

Nintendo held a short presentation for the 40th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda, during which producer Eiji Aonuma showcased gameplay from the Ocarina of Time remake and confirmed the release date: November 5, exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2.

The remake updates both visuals and gameplay while preserving the original's structure — separated zones rather than an open world. Highlighted improvements include reworked camera controls, proper jump mechanics, and a sprint that removes the need to constantly roll for quick movement. A colorful tapestry in the pause menu fills in as Link's adventure progresses, offering guidance on where to go next.

The ocarina itself has been expanded — players can now hum or sing melodies into the microphone in addition to inputting them with buttons. Different songs retain their original effects, changing the time of day, summoning Epona, and so on. The gameplay demo covered early areas including Kokiri Forest, the Great Deku Tree, Hyrule Field, and the town at the base of the castle.

Alongside the game reveal, Nintendo announced a Triforce-themed Switch 2 console, new Zelda amiibo figures, upcoming symphony concerts, and a Zelda Notes expansion for the Nintendo Switch App featuring a virtual ocarina, quizzes, and in-game progress tracking. A Zelda feature film — simply titled The Legend of Zelda — was also teased, with more details to come.
