Warhammer 40K: Darktide Developers Expand Mortis Trials Mode Content

Warhammer 40k Darktide

The creators of cooperative action game Warhammer 40,000: Darktide from Swedish studio Fatshark recently released the major Bound by Duty update, offering players a host of new content additions. The patch notably expands the Mortis Trials mode that launched this spring.

As a reminder, Mortis Trials challenges players with more chaotic battles featuring roguelike elements and enemy waves. Events unfold in a virtual nightmare world created by psyker Sefoni for training operatives. With the Bound by Duty update release, the mode gains a new theatre (arena). In the so-called "Theatre of Rectitude," players must navigate through abandoned Gloriana corridors and complete new Sefoni trials to unlock additional lore details.

Beyond the arena, developers have prepared two new indulgences (character archetypes) — Goliath and Emperor's Chosen — one elite enemy in the form of a Scab Plasma Gunner, and new weaponry with the power falchion. The developers also highlighted various balance adjustments and two new modifiers for the high-level Havoc mode. The complete list of additions is available in the corresponding patch notes.

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is available on PC (Steam, Microsoft Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, as well as through Game Pass subscription. The game currently has over 90,000 reviews on Valve's store, with 71% being positive.
