Retroware showed a new gameplay trailer for Toxic Crusaders during The MIX Fall Online Showcase on October 16, 2026. The footage shows the side-scrolling beat ’em up’s seven playable characters fighting through the streets of Tromaville.
In the trailer, Toxie, Nozone, Junkyard, Major Disaster, Headbanger, Yvonne, and Mrs. Junko take on Dr. Killemoff’s Radiation Rangers. Each character has their own abilities, and the combat borrows from 1990s arcade brawlers.
Up to four players can play together in local co-op. The game uses colorful pixel art, and its original story continues the 1991 animated series. Cutscenes are hand-drawn motion comics, and other Troma properties also make appearances.
Retroware is developing and publishing Toxic Crusaders, which is due in 2026 on PC (Steam), PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. There’s no exact release date yet, but a playable demo is already on Steam.
