During Gamescom 2025, the creators of survival game Valheim from Iron Gate studio announced the major Call to Arms update for Valheim.
The update hasn't had a release date yet, but gamers can already explore the upcoming content through the test server. Key additions include:
- Combat System Improvements:
- Perfect blocks no longer consume stamina
- Slightly increased speed for battle axes, hammers, and tower shields
- Improved combat on vertical surfaces, making it easier to hit enemies on slopes
- Ability rebalancing
- New item type — talismans, with 13 available initially. Using these items provides adrenaline during combat and unlocks temporary bonuses
- New ability — perfect dodge
- 18 new weapons, 9 of which are wooden. Wooden weapons can be used for practice fights with friends without dealing damage
- 2 new armor sets
- 2 new creatures, including a bear
- 8 new crafting materials
- 3 new buildings
- 3 new hairstyles and 5 beards
- New ruin location
- Unity engine update
- Bug fixes
Valheim has been in Steam Early Access since 2021, and also arrived on Xbox consoles in spring 2023. There's still no timeline for full release.
