Horizon Zero Dawn Power Cells Guide

Horizon Zero Dawn Power Cells

Power Cells are keys to activate the final doors in the Ancient Armory quest in Horizon Zero Dawn, and get a special treasure: the Shield-Weaver Armor. This armor is amazing as it absorbs all damage to Aloy (up to some point), making her super tough.

These Power Cells are hidden in places that are hard to get to. Totally there are 5 Power Cells you need to get, which are spread out in different places in the game’s world. It’s a bit of a challenge and it takes time to find them all. But trust me, the effort is totally worth it. The armor you get at the end is awesome.

In this article, I’ll show all the Horizon Zero Dawn power cell locations and how to find them easily.

Power Cell 1 in Underground Bunker

The first Power Cell in Horizon Zero Dawn is waiting for you in an Underground Bunker. You can find it while you’re just exploring the world after the start of the game. You just need to go back to the cave where you found your Focus.

Follow the path you took before, through the old barracks and down some stairs, until you see a closed door. Open it, then make your way through the old offices and go upstairs. When you’re at the top, look for a room on your right. It’s easy to spot because the door is blocked by rocks.

Knock these rocks down with your spear and inside, on a desk, is your first Power Cell.

Power Cell 2 in All-Mother Temple

Finding the second Power Cell is a more challenging task. It’s hidden in the All-Mother Temple, which is not generally open.

There are two chances to grab this Power Cell. First, during a main quest called The Womb of the Mountain, right after you finish The Proving. Or, you can wait and get it during or after another main mission, The Heart of the Nora.

  • After you get your gear back and chat with Matriarch Teersa during The Womb of the Mountain, look for a locked door across the hall. Right next to this door, there’s an open vent. Crawl through this vent to find a room with the Power Cell. Remember, after finishing The Womb of the Mountain, the temple’s gates close for a bit. If you miss your chance, don’t worry. The temple reopens later in the story.
  • To get back inside the All-Mother Temple later, come back during The Heart of the Nora mission. You can’t fast-travel directly to the temple – you’ll see why. So, pick the closest campfire and walk from there.

Power Cell 3 in Maker’s End

You can find the third Power Cell in Horizon Zero Dawn during or after a main story mission called Maker’s End. This Power Cell is way up high in the game, at the top of a big building. You’ll mostly get it while you’re doing the Maker’s End quest.

Here’s what to do: climb all the way up the F.A.S. building until you reach Faro’s Office, which is near the end of the mission. At the east side of the office, there’s a tower. Climb up this tower to get to the very top of the skyscraper. Up there, you’ll see the Power Cell just waiting for you by the edge. Grab it, and then you can rappel down.

Power Cell 4 in The Grave Hoard

The fourth Power Cell is in a place called the Grave Hoard. You can grab it while doing the Grave Hoard mission or even after you’ve finished it.

When you go down into the ruins for this mission, you’ll find a door with an electronic lock. To open it, you need to reset three different mechanisms. It’s like a mini-puzzle. Once you get that door open, you’ll see the Power Cell. It’s just lying there on the ground, waiting for you on the other side of the door.

Power Cell 5 in GAIA Prime

And now, the last Power Cell in Horizon Zero Dawn – the GAIA Prime Power Cell! This one’s found in the ruins during The Mountain That Fell mission.

During the quest, limb up the yellow ladder to get to Sylens’ workshop. After you talk to Sylens, go down the elevator shaft and rappel into the ruins. Before you follow your objective marker to the right, take a left turn and head north. You’ll see a brightly colored area on a rock to your left. Climb over the rubble in front of you and go into the cave with blue lights.

The last Power Cell is waiting for you on a shelf in the back room.

Conclusion

So, there are 5 Horizon Zero Dawn power cells you need to find and get. After you go through all the power cell locations, you may go back to the Ancient Armory and take your reward.

However, you’ll have a couple of simple puzzles to solve there. But once you do, you get your reward.

So, is the Shield-Weaver armor worth all this effort? Absolutely! It’s the best armor in the game. I highly recommend to spend some time, collet all the power cells and get the armor before the end of the game.
